Behavioral Health Planning
In 2009, The Prince of Wales Health Network received a grant from the State of Alaska Division of Behavioral Health to provide needs assessment and strategic planning for the delivery of behavioral health services on Prince of Wales Island.
The Network has contracted with
Agnew::Beck Consulting, LLC,
a community planning and development firm located in Anchorage, to provide needs assessment and planning services. A Project Work Group comprised of members of the POW Health Network, Agnew::Beck Consulting, local providers of behavioral health services and additional stakeholders was formed in the summer of 2009 to guide the process.
A needs assessment was completed during the fall and winter of 2009-2010, and results of the study were presented at a community stakeholder meeting on May 3, 2010.
A Capacity Building Workshop was held in September, 2010, and a Strategic Planning meeting was held January 26-27, 2011.
The final report for the project includes the conclusions of the needs assessment study, the strategic plan for behavioral health services on Prince of Wales Island, and meeting minutes.

A community based coalition is now being formed to finalize the Prince of Wales Behavioral Health System Strategic Plan and to begin assigning tasks, with the first meeting planned for spring, 2011. The coalition will consist of POW community members, stakeholders, local service providers, and State representatives. This coalition will also serve as an advisory committee to the Prince of Wales Health Network.
